Students will edit and revise their writing to provide clear meaning and
coherent structure; they will use effective document and paragraph structure,
documentation and genre conventions, and document design to create a
rhetorically complete presentation.
Project One: Plato's Allegory of the Cave
After analyzing rhetorical situations, doing research, and composing our documents, we had to present them in an appropriate way. We participated in peer reviews with other fellow classmates, which helped us to see the problems that existed in our paper. I also used the help of friends and family, The editing process helped me find many grammatical errors, as well as sentences or paragraphs that did not make much sense because of the wording that was used. I spent some time fixing the problems and even rewriting portions of the paper in order to better my presentation of ideas. After editing and perfecting the paper, we completed the presentation of our documents by including it as a part of our portfolio website and adding a multimedia piece that would be a visual or audio representation of the main ideas presented in the paper. I included a picture from the claymation video as the header for my Weebly site that would help the readers visualize the cave and use my pins on the Pinterst board, which was what I chose to do for my multimedia portion, that portrayed ideas in my papers such as strive, lifelong learning, the definition of education, and knowledge.
Project Two: No Child Left Behind
After writing the first draft of my paper, I participated in a peer review to get advice on what changes to make in order to create a clear, concise thought through my writing. There were suggestions made, such as taking out parts because they distracted from the overall message and adding more sentences to explain certain points, but a big part of the revisions for me was rewording. When I originally wrote my thoughts they sounded funny and weren't creating a clear message. After the peer review, I was able to solve for the problem and reword my sentences to make sense. After completing the editing, I decided to portray my thoughts as a blog post. I included pictures and link to my sources that represented a thought present in the accompanying paragraph. I also included the embedded video that portrayed the ideas of No Child Left Behind and discussed some problems that exist. This was a fun project and I think it came out really well.
Project Three: My Educational Manifesto
To present the thought in my outline, I created a Prezi presentation in the form of a newspaper. Each section of the newspaper was a different letter of the word "manifesto." In the presentation, I talk about my experiences in our current education system and about the changes that could be made to make it better. I added pictures and a voice over presentation to my Prezi so that people would fully grasp my ideas. I think the presentation can get the viewers' attention and maybe lead to true changes being made in order to create the perfect academic environment for students to learn, want to succeed, and further their education for a better future.
